As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional scuba diver, but you also start learning the PADI System of diver education. You can act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities. It’s a great way to gain experience in order to become a scuba instructor!

FYI - You will not be working with students during the AI Course. All of you course work and presentations will
be performed in front of other AI candidates and instructional staff.
Course Cost: $425
Course Length: four days
Prerequisites:
- PADI Divemaster (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
- Have been a certified diver for at least 6 months and logged 60 dives
- 18 years old
- Medical Statement signed by a licensed physician within the past 12 months
- Proof of CPR and First-Aid training within the last 24 months
Course Fees Include:
- All academic instruction
- Use of tanks & weights during the course

Equipment Requirements: Divers must own their scuba equipment (mask, fins, snorkel, BCD & regulator). I supply tanks & weights.
Course Performance Requirements:
To be certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor, you must meet the following performance requirements:
- Attend the seven Instructor Development Course components:
- Course Orientation
- Learning, Instruction and the PADI System
- PADI Discover Scuba Diving and Snorkeling Programs
- Developing Knowledge DevelopemtnPresentations
- Teaching Project AWARE and Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialties
- Teaching in Confined Water
- Conducting Open Water Training Presentations
- Present at least two knowledge development teaching presentations with a passing score
- Present at least two confined water teaching presentations with a passing score
- Present at least one integrated (two skills) open water teaching presentation with a passing score
- Demonstrate competence at performing all 20 dive skills with a passing score
- Demonstrate competence on the Assistant Instructor Standards Exam with a passing score
- Successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment in open water
